HENRIETTA THOMAS
Henrietta Thomas is a freelance prop maker working across a variety of mediums, including Short Film, Feature Film, Music Videos and Art.
She also works as a Set Dresser, Prop Buyer and Art Department Assistant.
Henrietta’s upbringing was joyously eclectic. As a mixed race child, ¼ Jamaican, of actor parents, her love of creativity was ignited from a young age.
She graduated with a 1st Class BA Honours Degree in ‘Broadcast Production’ from ‘Ravensbourne University’. Whilst there Henrietta gained invaluable knowledge of the technical departments that collaborate to produce visual content for TV and film. These included camera operation, lighting, sound, scriptwriting and directing.
Henrietta’s time at ‘Ravensbourne’ was where the passion for her true career path was ignited. Whilst creating numerous collaborative film projects she put herself forward to be a set decorator. This role opened up a whole new artistic avenue within film making that she hadn’t thought of previously…..Props!!!!
Most recently Henrietta completed a work placement in the art department of the feature film ‘Operation Mincemeat’, starring Colin Firth. Whilst there she also worked with the graphics department, assisting with historic prop creations.
She has also undertaken a work placement at ‘The Royal Opera House’ in the props workshop, where she assisted with mask making, chair upholstery and casting fibreglass lampposts for ‘Turandot’ and La Boheme’.
Alongside her art department work Henrietta Writes, Directs, and Set Dresses her own Short Films, which have won awards and been screened in a large number of festivals, including ‘Raindance’ and 'The Melbourne Film Festival'. Her film work can be seen here.
