SET COVER-UPS

‘Operation Mincemeat’

MATERIALS

Foam board, brown paper, scalpel, glue, white paint.

‘Operation Mincemeat’ is a true World War II deception story, starring Colin Firth.

Intelligence officers used a corpse and false papers to outwit German troops.

Henrietta worked with the set cover-ups department, who’s job it is to disguise anything modern, (light fixtures, lift buttons, fire exit signs etc.) which doesn’t match the time period of the 1940’s.

She designed and built six cover-ups for modern light fixtures, which were in a hallway featured on one of the sets filmed on location.

The cover-up’s designs were sketched out, and then templates were drawn, so the separate pieces could be cut out.

They were then glued together, and extra edge pieces added to create a more art deco style.

Lastly, a nice lick of white paint was added.
