ROSE

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama

MATERIALS

Worbla, emulsion paint and gold leaf.

Small ovals of Worbla were cut out and heated up with a hair dryer, then moulded round each other to construct the centre of the flower. This process was repeated until the full flower head was formed.

Worbla was wrapped round metal wire to create a stable flower stem, and then leaves were added.

To give the rose a dazzling finishing touch, red emulsion paint was brushed onto the petals and the leaves were gilded in gold leaf.
