FRAME RESTORATION

Personal Project

MATERIALS

Sandpaper, Milliput, PVA, gilding wax, clear varnish, craft paper, gummed tape.

Firstly, Henrietta took apart the frame, and sanded it down to get rid of the old pealing gold gilding. A coat of PVA was applied to seal the wood.

Then a few coats of gilding wax were brushed onto the wood to restore its shiny gold finish. Once dry, clear varnish was brushed on top to seal the wax.

For the back of the frame, the picture, and wooded backing was put back in. Then brown craft paper was cut to size, and stuck in place with gummed tape. This assures that the picture is air tight.
